Sell and then Sell Again

Now that the house is underway, we had to get prepared to sell our existing house. Keven and I have done a lot of work in the last (almost) seven years to make this house what it is today but there was still quite a bit to get done. The weekend after the 4th of July we listed the house and to our surprise (and relief) we had an offer within the second day on the market. The offer was better than we can imagine. It was over asking, buyer paying the closing and they even agreed to waiting a bit to close so we could be closer to moving into our new house.

The next step after signing the agreement was the inspection. I think Keven and I were confident that the inspection would be seamless. Well...the next day the buyers came back asking for us to replace the patio door AND re-pave the entire driveway. We were astonished, freaked out and slightly offended. We put a lot of love into this house so it was hard to hear those kinds of demands. Even still, we accepted the offer. Within the hour our realtor called back telling us that while we agreed to everything demanded, the buyers still chose to back out. Back to square one.

We wanted to act quick while the house was still fresh (and still pretty clean for that matter). We put the house back on the market the same night and had showings the next morning. By the following Tuesday we had another offer. At this point we've made it past the inspection and are now planning to close on September 19th. The estimate close on our new house is October 19th so we have a bit of a gap between homes. Thankfully we have incredible friends who have offered their brand new home for us to stay in with them while we wait.
